The UK is experiencing a weekend of mixed weather, with temperatures returning to typical late September conditions. Most areas are expected to see temperatures between 15C and 21C, feeling pleasantly warm in sunny spells.
Saturday brings a chance of showers to many western areas, while Sunday is forecast to see spells of rain sweep across most parts of the country. Before the wind and rain arrive, some bursts of warmth could lift temperatures above average, possibly reaching the low-20s Celsius in south-east England.
Looking ahead to next week, a deep area of low pressure is forecast to approach from the Atlantic, bringing a spell of windy weather. This system may also bring heavy rain, especially to western areas, though some places further east could remain dry. Many drought-affected parts of England and Wales, which still need significant rainfall, may stay largely dry throughout the coming week.
September rainfall has been varied across the UK, with north-west Scotland receiving 146% of expected rainfall, while Bridlington in East Yorkshire has seen just 11%.
