Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old man during a memorial service in west London. The incident, described by police as a “senseless act of violence,” occurred on Friday, 2 October.
Officers were called to East Acton at 7.47pm after multiple shots were heard. The victim was treated at the scene, at the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street, but was pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police stated that approximately 40 to 50 people, including children, were present when the shooting took place. The man's family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the cause of death, though the victim is believed to have sustained a gunshot wound. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
DCI Brian Howie, leading the investigation, urged anyone with information, photographs, video, or dashcam footage from the area between 6pm and 8pm on Friday to come forward.
