A violent storm swept through Naples and the surrounding province earlier this week, causing widespread damage to the festival infrastructure and forcing local authorities to intervene. The main stage, which was still under construction at the time, succumbed to the strong winds, with footage of the incident showcasing the devastating impact on the site.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the collapse, as it occurred when the area was empty. The event, featuring top Latin and electronic music acts Ozuna, Gordo, Anuel AA, and Myke Towers, was scheduled to take place from July 4 to 5. Despite initial hopes that the festival could still go ahead, organisers have been left with no choice but to postpone the event for safety reasons.
The Alien Sound Festival will now be rescheduled as a single combined event on July 23, retaining the same Bagnoli location. Existing tickets purchased for the original dates will remain valid for the new single date, while those unable to attend can opt for refunds from July 24 via their original point of purchase. Organisers have acknowledged the inconvenience and disappointment caused by this decision.
The postponement is the latest example of a music festival in Europe being disrupted by severe weather conditions this summer. Earlier incidents include cancelled sets at Primavera Sound, where Massive Attack, Alex G, and Mac DeMarco were among those affected, as well as Katy Perry's performance at Werchter Boutique in Belgium, which was also hit by thunderstorms.
