The National Motor Museum, a popular UK attraction, is set to leave its current home in the New Forest village of Beaulieu after 60 years. The museum's trust announced earlier this month that it is exploring potential new locations to support its long-term ambitions.
These ambitions include expanding by adding a training centre for heritage and engineering apprenticeships. Robert MacGregor, chair of the board of trustees, stated that a new home could "refresh our whole approach, enable us to make the collection more accessible, expand our educational and community impact, and ensure Britain’s motoring story remains relevant."
The Beaulieu estate confirmed that the museum's day-to-day operations will continue as normal for the time being, as the trust has another four years on its lease. The estate also plans to keep a motor exhibition in the future, as many vehicles are owned by the Montagu family or on loan and will remain on site.
