Streaming giant Netflix is set to make its inaugural move into live darts broadcasting with an ambitious new programme titled 'Beat Luke Littler'. The show, scheduled to air live on 30 October 2026, will present 20 amateur darts enthusiasts with a unique opportunity: defeat teenage sensation and world champion Luke Littler in a single leg of darts and claim a staggering prize of £501,000.
The initiative is a collaborative effort with the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), the sport's governing body, which is part of the Matchroom stable. Matchroom, the British multi-sport promotion enterprise led by Barry and Eddie Hearn, previously featured in a Netflix docuseries last year, exploring the behind-the-scenes world of their operations. Netflix has also broadcast high-profile boxing matches involving Matchroom fighters such as Anthony Joshua and Katie Taylor, and is slated to stream Joshua's upcoming bout with Tyson Fury later this year.
Luke Littler, aged 19, has expressed his readiness for the challenge, stating, "Everyone thinks they can beat me. Now they get a chance to prove it. Bring it on." The Warrington-born prodigy has been a dominant force in darts since securing his first world title in January 2025 at just 17, accumulating 11 major championships. His recent victory saw him retain his World Matchplay title in Blackpool, triumphing over Gerwyn Price.
This venture by Netflix could signal a significant shift in the broadcasting landscape for darts. For years, Sky Sports has held a near-monopoly on professional darts coverage through its extensive partnership with the PDC. Netflix's entry into live broadcasting introduces a new competitor and promises to broaden the sport's reach to a more global audience, particularly amid growing interest from the US and institutional investors. Matchroom's recent sale of a minority stake to Bruin Capital earlier this year was partly aimed at expanding darts' presence in North America.
Littler's meteoric rise has undoubtedly elevated the sport's profile. He first captured widespread attention by reaching the World Championship final at Alexandra Palace in 2024 at the remarkable age of 16. Since then, he has attracted numerous commercial endorsements from major brands including Xbox, Meta, KP Nuts, and BoohooMan. Earlier this year, he cemented his future in the sport by signing a decade-long management agreement with long-term sponsor Target Darts, reportedly valued at £20 million.
