Actors portraying armed police and simulated emergency responses could be seen around the Houses of Parliament this coming weekend as filming begins for the new Netflix drama, 'The Lords' Day'. Production business Bad Wolf, known for series such as 'Doctor Who' and 'His Dark Materials', will be shooting scenes across the parliamentary estate and on the River Thames on August 22 and 23.
The adaptation, reportedly centred on a siege inside the famous building during the State Opening of Parliament, is based on a novel by Michael Dobbs. Specialist vehicles will also be present in the area, with clear warning signs displayed for the public.
The cast features Damson Idris, Harry Lawtey, Arsema Thomas, Sophie Willan, Gemma Whelan, and Timothy Spall. A UK Parliament spokesperson confirmed that the activities are part of a controlled and authorised production, assuring the public there is no actual incident or emergency.
