A Netflix executive has offered an enigmatic response to the rumour that Meghan Markle might return to acting in the Guy Ritchie series, The Gentlemen.
During an appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival this week, Manda Levin, Netflix’s Director of Scripted Series for the U.K., was asked about the reports. She replied: “All bets are off.”
Earlier this month, it was claimed that the Duchess of Sussex, 45, was considering a role in the Netflix gangster show. However, former editor-in-chief Tina Brown reportedly stated last weekend that the offer to cast Meghan in the drama had been “withdrawn” due to backlash in the U.K.
According to Variety, Meghan was in discussions to join the third instalment of the series, which films in the U.K. The show's second season is set to premiere on September 3, but the third season has not yet been officially greenlit.
This would mark Meghan’s first acting role since she quit performing in 2017. She recently made a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends.
