A new awards programme has been introduced to provide greater transparency on the performance of residential conveyancers. The Best Conveyancer Guide Awards 2027 will evaluate over 3,900 conveyancing firms that completed residential purchases in England and Wales during the past year.
The assessment uses transaction data from TwentyConvey, which includes Land Registry price-paid data and records of conveyancing companies completing AP1 forms. It also tracks how long properties were on the market and the period between an agreed sale and completion.
Firms will be assessed on their time to complete transactions, time taken for post-completion submissions, requisitions, and changes in market share. Allowances will be made for firms handling a high volume of leasehold or new-build transactions. The top 10% of conveyancers will be highlighted, with approximately 5% receiving gold awards and another 5% receiving silver. Firms are assessed within different size categories, from those completing fewer than 150 transactions annually to national operators completing over 1,251.
The awards, run by Leaders.inc and sponsored by LMS, are scheduled to be announced at the EA Masters event on 3 November.
