The government today, 20 October 2026, confirmed a new station at Bradford Interchange, which is set to improve services for passengers across Yorkshire. The new station aims to provide more reliable services, better connections, and faster journeys as part of the Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) initiative.
Bradford Council projects that delivering the new station, alongside the proposed West Yorkshire Mass Transit network, could unlock thousands of jobs and homes, and generate more than £1 billion in economic benefits. The station is intended to transform the city’s connections with major Northern cities such as Leeds, Manchester, and York, offering more frequent trains and improved journey times.
The new Great British Railways (GBR) station is planned for delivery in the 2030s, replacing the existing 1970s station. This announcement is considered a significant step in the delivery of Northern Powerhouse Rail and the government's strategy to foster growth across the country.
