RAF Wyton has opened the FAIRFAX Collaboration Hub, a joint initiative with industry partners, to enhance the UK's intelligence capabilities and foster innovation.

  • The FAIRFAX Collaboration Hub opened on 27 August 2026 at RAF Wyton.
  • It is a joint programme involving Defence Intelligence, Huntingdonshire District Council, and four industry partners.
  • The Hub is the first step in a wider plan to build an intelligence ecosystem around RAF Wyton.

RAF Wyton, in collaboration with industry partners, officially opened the new FAIRFAX Collaboration Hub on 27 August 2026. This development is seen as a significant move in the station's growth as the UK's primary centre for intelligence excellence.

The Hub is a joint programme involving Defence Intelligence, Huntingdonshire District Council, and four industry partners: CGI, CDS Defence & Security, MAIAR, and Vantor. Located within RAF Wyton's secure perimeter, it provides a dedicated space for the Ministry of Defence and its partners to drive innovation, operate a development lab, and conduct outreach and STEM activities.

This initiative marks the initial phase of a broader plan, Project FAIRFAX, to establish an intelligence ecosystem radiating from the station. The project aims to deepen ties between Defence, industry, and academia, with RAF Wyton designated for substantial defence investment over the next five to seven years.

Air Vice-Marshal Adam Bone, Director Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, stated that the partnership is crucial for staying ahead of evolving threats and providing the necessary tools and insights to maintain UK safety. Wing Commander John Grenville, Station Commander of RAF Wyton, highlighted the hub as a significant milestone for both Project FAIRFAX and Wyton, anticipating it will strengthen defence capabilities and bring value to the local community.

Why this matters: The establishment of the FAIRFAX Collaboration Hub is intended to strengthen the UK's defence intelligence capabilities and foster innovation through partnerships between Defence, industry, and academia.

What this means for you: The project aims to drive growth in the east of England and offer opportunities for local people, including through outreach programmes with local schools and academic institutions to develop future workforce skills.
