The cruise industry is seeing a wave of new vessel launches throughout 2026 and into 2027, promising holidaymakers an array of innovative features and expanded itineraries. From colossal ships boasting theme park-like attractions to intimate luxury liners with unparalleled service, there's a growing choice for every type of traveller. These new additions are not only enhancing the onboard experience but also opening up new destinations and routes.
Among the notable recent launches is Norwegian Luna, the latest addition to Norwegian Cruise Line's Prima class. Having received its keys in March, Luna is now undertaking Caribbean voyages from Miami. This vessel mirrors its sister ship, Aqua, with popular features like the Slidecoaster, a hybrid waterslide rollercoaster, but also introduces new elements such as a Moon Climber high ropes course and expanded outdoor areas. With a capacity for 3,550 passengers, it represents NCL's continued investment in modern cruising.
Royal Caribbean has also made a significant splash with Legend of the Seas, its third Icon class ship and the largest cruise ship globally by gross tonnage. Making its European debut this summer, Legend of the Seas offers seven-night cruises from Barcelona and Rome. It features the largest waterpark at sea, a sky-walk, a zipline course, and an impressive 40 bars and restaurants, catering to 5,610 passengers. Entertainment includes exclusive performances of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical and an immersive Royal Railway dining experience.
For families, Disney Adventure, launched in March 2026, marks the eighth ship in the Disney fleet and its largest to date. Homeporting in Singapore, it offers three, four, and five-night cruises around Asia. This 208,000-tonne vessel, with a capacity for over 6,000 guests, boasts unique facilities including a Disney castle and the Marvel-themed Ironcycle Test Run, which is the first and longest rollercoaster at sea on a Disney cruise ship.
At the luxury end of the spectrum, Regent Seven Seas is preparing to unveil Seven Seas Prestige in December 2026, marking its first new cruise ship class in a decade. This 77,000-tonne vessel, accommodating 822 guests, will be the first of four Prestige-class ships. It promises one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios at sea, along with butler service, luxury lounges, and a new Mediterranean mezze-style restaurant called Azure. The maiden voyage is scheduled for 13 December 2026, from Barcelona to Miami, with itineraries extending to May 2027 covering the Caribbean and Europe. Also launching this summer is Explora III, part of Explora Journeys, MSC Cruises' luxury brand, offering around 900 guests five heated pools, six restaurants, and 12 bars and lounges.
