New video footage has been released, confirming that the ball made contact with Neco Williams' arm in the build-up to his disallowed goal during Nottingham Forest's 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Nottingham Forest defender bundled the ball into the net in the 67th minute, but Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Peter Bankes ruled out the goal for accidental handball. Williams and Forest manager Oliver Glasner had both stated after the match that there was no proof of a handball.
The new footage shows the ball touching Williams' left arm and then his right forearm before entering the goal. While this vindicates the VAR's decision, the new camera angle was not available to Bankes during the game, meaning it is unlikely to resolve fan anger.
Pro Ref, the refereeing body, is reportedly content with the decision to disallow the goal. Referees' chief Howard Webb has previously stated he would look to change the law regarding attacking handball, which could mean similar goals would not be ruled out based on original evidence.
