Fans of the iconic horror franchise 'Hellraiser' can anticipate a new interactive experience this autumn with the release of 'Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival'. The survival horror action game, developed by Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games, is slated for an October 8 launch across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 platforms. It promises an original narrative crafted in close collaboration with the series' creator, Clive Barker.
The game’s premise involves a descent into the underworld, where players must battle against 'Hell’s armies' to rescue a loved one from the clutches of the Cenobites. Players will confront various antagonists, including 'deviant wretches, cultists, and creatures', utilising both 'infernal powers of the Genesis Configuration puzzle box and an arsenal of earthly weapons'. This new story aims to immerse players deeply within the dark and imaginative world established by Barker.
A significant aspect of 'Revival' is the direct involvement of Clive Barker in its development. Executive producer Nenad Tomic highlighted Barker's 'guidance and intimate understanding of the Hellraiser universe' as instrumental in shaping the game's visual style, story motifs, lore, and character personalities. This collaboration ensures the game remains authentic to the original spirit of 'Hellraiser', serving as a true extension of Barker's vision.
Adding to the authenticity, Doug Bradley, who famously portrayed the antagonist Pinhead in the first nine 'Hellraiser' films, will reprise his iconic role for 'Revival'. Tomic expressed the surreal nature of recreating the 'twisted world' and hearing Bradley's voice once more in a new 'Hellraiser' narrative, underscoring the team's commitment to delivering an experience that resonates with long-time fans.
The announcement of 'Revival' comes as the 'Hellraiser' universe continues to expand across various media, reaffirming its enduring appeal within the horror genre. The game is available for pre-order ahead of its release, offering a new chapter for fans to explore and a fresh take on the terrifying mythology.
