The new Range Rover Electric has been officially launched, with a starting price of £154,070. The electric SUV boasts V8-rivalling power and a battery range of up to 372 miles, as tested under WLTP conditions, though JLR anticipates a real-world range of 330 miles.
According to Range Rover MD Martin Limpert, the design intentionally mirrors the V8 petrol version, with only minor visual changes such as an aero-optimised front grille and wheels. Limpert stated, “This is a Range Rover first, an electric car second.”
The vehicle is equipped with an 118.5kWh NMC battery and 800-volt technology, enabling rapid DC charging from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes. It can add 137 miles of range in 10 minutes. The electric motors deliver up to 550hp, achieving 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds.
JLR has reported 60,000 'expressions of interest' for the new model. Orders are now open for both short- and long-wheelbase versions.
