Newcastle United completes 'rollercoaster' summer with Fernandez-Pardo signing

Newcastle United concluded a summer of significant change with the signing of Matias Fernandez-Pardo and the loan departure of Nick Woltemade to Juventus.

  • Matias Fernandez-Pardo was Newcastle's final signing of the summer transfer window.
  • Nick Woltemade, a club-record signing last summer, joined Juventus on loan.
  • Head coach Eddie Howe stepped down in July and was replaced by Matthias Jaissle.

Newcastle United has completed a summer of substantial transformation, marked by the arrival of Matias Fernandez-Pardo as their final signing and the loan departure of Nick Woltemade to Juventus.

The pursuit of Belgian forward Fernandez-Pardo was described as complex, with the deal finalised in the closing stages of the transfer window after negotiations with Lille. His arrival was announced on the same afternoon that Woltemade, who joined Newcastle last summer as a club-record signing, completed his move to Juventus.

This window has seen significant changes on Tyneside, including head coach Eddie Howe stepping down in July and Matthias Jaissle taking over. Captain Bruno Guimaraes was among several key players who left, while eight new signings arrived, breaking the club's records for both spending and sales in a single window.
