Musician Noah Kahan has publicly criticised the Trump administration for using his single 'American Cars' without authorisation. The song was featured in a series of Instagram photos documenting Donald Trump's visit to General Motors' flagship test site in Michigan.
Upon learning of the usage, Kahan commented on the post, stating, "Would never approve of my music being used in support of you or this administration." Noah Levine, who co-wrote the song, also left a comment. While the track has since been removed from the Instagram post, it reportedly remains on a TikTok post.
This incident follows similar condemnations from other artists. Recently, Katy Perry criticised the White House for using her song 'Firework' in a video related to US military strikes on Iran. Ariana Grande, Kesha, Boards Of Canada, Sabrina Carpenter, and Olivia Rodrigo have also previously objected to the administration's use of their music.
