Lando Norris wrote his name into the history books with a stunning victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, marking McLaren's first win of the 2026 season. The British driver was unstoppable from pole position, leaving teammate Oscar Piastri in his wake and defying all odds to take the chequered flag.
The drama was not confined to Norris' dominating drive alone. Piastri had initially taken the lead off the line, but a cruel gearbox failure would ultimately relegate him to the sidelines, clearing the path for Norris to cross the finish line first and earn a resounding 9.5/10 from BBC Radio 5 Live F1 commentator Harry Benjamin.
Max Verstappen showed remarkable resilience in the face of adversity, battling through car issues all weekend to secure a well-deserved second place. For Lewis Hamilton, it was a weekend marred by penalties that ultimately cost him a potential podium finish. Despite narrowly missing pole position and receiving a three-place grid penalty for impeding Piastri in qualifying, as well as a five-second time penalty during the race, he still managed to bring his Ferrari home fifth.
Elsewhere, George Russell's impressive recovery drive saw him climb from 21st on the grid to seventh after an anti-stall issue at the start, while Liam Lawson put in a strong showing for Racing Bulls to finish eighth. Nico Hulkenberg secured a deserved points finish for Audi in ninth, outperforming his teammate Gabriel Bortoleto.
And finally, rookie sensation Arvid Lindblad claimed the final point for Racing Bulls, rounding off a thrilling weekend of action at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
