Norris doubts McLaren's championship fight despite second consecutive win

Lando Norris believes McLaren's car lacks the consistency needed for a championship challenge, despite securing his second consecutive Formula 1 victory at the Dutch Grand Prix.

  • Lando Norris won the Dutch Grand Prix, his second consecutive win this season.
  • Norris stated McLaren's car has strong high-speed performance but significant weaknesses in slow-speed corners.
  • McLaren team principal Andrea Stella believes Norris is driving at a 'world champion' level.

Lando Norris has expressed doubts about McLaren's ability to contend for the Formula 1 championship, despite his recent victory at the Dutch Grand Prix. This marks his second consecutive win, following his success in Hungary last month.

Norris stated that while McLaren has made significant progress with car upgrades, particularly in high-speed performance, the car still has too many flaws for a consistent title challenge. He highlighted that no other team matches McLaren in high-speed sections, but Mercedes holds a considerable advantage in slow-speed corners.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella praised Norris, saying he is driving at the level of a world champion and continues to improve. Stella added that if the team's improvements are confirmed at Monza, they can approach the rest of the season with optimism.

Norris's victory at Zandvoort leaves him 83 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes.
