Northern Ireland's Kate O'Connor is just three events away from securing a potential first Commonwealth Games gold medal, currently leading the heptathlon in Glasgow. She holds the top spot after the opening four events.
England's Jade O'Dowda is in second place, trailing O'Connor by 55 points. The evening session at Scotstoun Stadium saw rain impacting the competition. Australia's Mia Scerri is in third, with England's Niamh Emerson also in medal contention in fourth.
O'Connor, who finished second in Birmingham in 2022, is now in a strong position heading into the second day. The withdrawal of Katarina Johnson-Thompson, the 2022 champion, has opened the door for a new Commonwealth heptathlon champion.
The heptathlon will conclude on Wednesday with the long jump, javelin, and 800m events.
