A serving police constable with Bedfordshire Police has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Nottinghamshire last year. Daniel Cartwright, 31, based in Kettering, Northamptonshire, faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving following the incident on 28 September, which led to the death of a 16-year-old boy.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that emergency services were called to Chilwell Lane, Bramcote, after reports of a crash involving an electric bike and two motor vehicles. The rider of the electric bike, identified as Ryley Hutson, 16, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
PC Cartwright was off-duty at the time of the incident. He is now scheduled to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 6 August to face the charge. The development marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into Ryley Hutson's death.
