Actress Olivia Colman has expressed surprise at the viral reaction to her new film, 'Wicker', stating that such a response has "never happened for anything I've done before." The film, described as 2026's weirdest rom-com, has sparked numerous memes and jokes across social media.
Colman attributes much of the online fascination to co-star Alexander Skarsgård, who plays a devoted, passionate partner made entirely of wicker. Elizabeth Debicki, also in the film, agreed that Skarsgård in his wicker costume is a key reason for the internet buzz.
The film, which also stars Peter Dinklage and Richard E Grant, tells the story of a lonely fisherwoman who hires a basketmaker to create a partner. 'Wicker' is set to be released in UK cinemas on October 30.
