Olly Robbins, the former head of the Foreign Office, has received a more than six-figure payout from the government following his dismissal. Prime Minister Keir Starmer removed Robbins from his post in April over his role in vetting Peter Mandelson.
Robbins had applied to the high court for a judicial review of the Prime Minister's decision to remove him. He was dismissed after a disclosure that he had overturned a recommendation from UK Security Vetting (UKSV) to deny clearance for Mandelson.
In a statement on Friday, Robbins expressed gratitude for support and thanked the FDA union for their assistance in reaching the settlement. Dave Penman, general secretary of the FDA, stated that the settlement may end the judicial review but that the affair has damaged trust between civil servants and ministers.
The government is expected to publish the exact settlement amount, which is believed to be more than six figures. Downing Street had previously stated that Robbins lost the confidence of Starmer and then-Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper due to his handling of Mandelson's vetting.
