Olympic medallist Andrew Steele, a bronze medallist with the Team GB 4 x 400m relay squad in Beijing 2008, has raised nearly £5m for his latest health technology company, Stride. This funding precedes the US launch of the venture.

Stride provides holistic health monitoring services, which include DNA, gut, and blood tests, alongside consultations and supplements. The recent £4.6m funding round saw investment from entities such as Innovate UK and Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures.

Steele, who previously co-founded DNAfit, believes that widespread adoption of wearable technology could make preventative health management as common as using an iPhone within a decade. The seed funding is intended to expand Stride's product range, which includes a multi-source biological age test under development, and to launch its Stride One membership in the US.
