The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published its 'Economic activity and social change in the UK, real-time indicators' report on 6 August 2026. This release provides early experimental data and analysis on various aspects of economic activity and social change across the UK.
The indicators cover several areas, including estimated automotive fuel demand per average transaction, sourced from ONS calculations and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Daily data on the System Average Price (SAP) of gas, traded in Great Britain, is also included, with information from National Gas Transmission.
Other insights come from Rightmove, providing weekly and monthly housing market data for Great Britain. The report also features monthly data on UK new vehicle registrations and production from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), alongside weekly data on potential redundancies from Insolvency Service HR1 forms.
Further indicators include Energy Performance Building Certificates (EPCs) for properties in England and Wales, Revolut debit card spending data, and weekly shipping indicators for UK ports. Sales and jobs data from small businesses, electricity System Price, daily UK flight numbers, and UK retail footfall are also part of this release. All these datasets are described as official statistics in development.
