The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has today, 13 August 2026, published its latest real-time indicators providing early experimental data on economic activity and social change across the UK. These indicators are developed using rapid response surveys, novel data sources, and experimental methods.

The release includes weekly data on estimated automotive fuel demand per average transaction, derived from ONS calculations and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Daily data on the System Average Price (SAP) of gas in Great Britain, sourced from National Gas Transmission, and the System Price of electricity, from Elexon, are also part of the update.

Housing market insights are provided through weekly and monthly data from Rightmove, alongside weekly numbers of Energy Performance Building Certificates (EPCs) for new and existing domestic properties in England and Wales, sourced from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Monthly data on renter affordability for new tenancies across the UK, from Dataloft Rental Market Analytics, is also included.

Further indicators cover monthly data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) on new vehicle registrations and production in the UK. Weekly data on potential redundancies from Insolvency Service HR1 forms, weekly shipping indicators from exactEarth, daily UK flight numbers from EUROCONTROL, and weekly and monthly retail footfall data from BT Active Intelligence are also featured.
