The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is scheduled to publish new estimates today, 24 August 2026, concerning investment in digital infrastructure within the UK. The release, titled "Redefining investment in digital infrastructure in the UK: 2026," will use an expanded definition of infrastructure.
This broader definition incorporates selected intellectual property products and permits for the use of radio spectrum, alongside traditional physical infrastructure assets. The ONS has stated that these figures are official statistics in development.
