OpenAI has announced that voice-based agentic features are being rolled out to its ChatGPT mobile app. This update will allow users to trigger workflows, including drafting documents or summarising emails, directly from their mobile devices.
Plus and Pro subscribers will gain access to a 'Work' tab on their phones, enabling them to create documents, draft emails, or summarise Slack messages. These users can also build sites, create presentations, use the cloud browser, and access financial areas within ChatGPT. Free and Go users will be able to utilise plugins and connected apps.
The company stated that ChatGPT’s voice conversations will offer richer text output, and users will be able to easily switch between text and voice. The update also facilitates starting a conversation on mobile and resuming it on a desktop.
This development follows OpenAI's launch of its GPT-Live conversational model in July and its subsequent integration with the desktop app for voice-activated tasks in the 'Work' tab or app building in the 'Codex' tab. The new mobile rollout brings similar capabilities to the app.
