OpenAI's upcoming Jalapeño chip is reportedly designed to be an 'inference beast', according to a recent report. The chip is expected to feature 128 individual chips and achieve 1.7 exaFLOPS of performance.
The Jalapeño chip will also reportedly include 27 TB of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). This configuration is suggested to give OpenAI an advantage over existing technologies like Blackwell and potentially Rubin.
