UK cinemas are set to host a steady stream of new releases over the next three months, with a variety of films featuring big stars and acclaimed directors. This period is often a key time for Oscar hopefuls to emerge.
Among the films slated for release are a reimagining of Robin Hood's final days, 'The Death of Robin Hood', starring Hugh Jackman, which premiered on 4 September. Paul Greengrass’s 'The Uprising', starring Andrew Garfield, is due on 9 October.
Other notable releases include 'Just an Illusion' on 11 September, a coming-of-age drama that was a summer hit in France. On 18 September, Saoirse Ronan stars in 'Bad Apples', a thriller from Jonatan Etzler. Georgia Oakley's adaptation of 'Sense and Sensibility', starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and George MacKay, arrives on 25 September, followed by Alejandro Iñárritu’s climate crisis satire 'Digger', featuring Tom Cruise, on 2 October.
Later in the autumn, Aaron Sorkin's 'The Social Reckoning', a sequel to 'The Social Network', is scheduled for 9 October. Paweł Pawlikowski's 'Fatherland' is due on 23 October, and Robert Pattinson stars in 'Primetime' on 30 October. Martin McDonagh's 'Wild Horse Nine' is set for 6 November, and a meta-murder mystery, 'A Talent for Murder', starring Helen Mirren and Alden Ehrenreich, is expected on 20 November.
Further films, including Danny Boyle’s 'Ink', Robert Eggers’s 'Werewulf', and Jesse Eisenberg’s 'The Debut', are anticipated in the UK in January.
