More than 70,000 pints of Guinness, with an estimated value of £115,000, have been stolen from a depot in Runcorn, Cheshire, according to police. Officers believe two lorries entered the industrial estate on Monday, 31 August 2026, and each attached to a trailer holding a combined total of about 800 barrels before driving away.
Cheshire police are investigating the theft and are appealing for witnesses. They are particularly interested in anyone who may have seen a lorry entering the Aston Lane area around 7:45pm on Monday.
The first lorry reportedly connected to an HGV trailer and left the depot around 7:55pm, heading towards the Mersey Gateway bridge. A second lorry arrived at the same site at 9:12pm, connected to another trailer, and departed at 9:30pm in the direction of Rainhill and Watkinson Way, police said.
DS McClatchy stated that inquiries have been launched to identify those responsible for the theft of the Guinness and the two trailers. The stolen barrels were intended for delivery to pubs. The trailers are described as white tri-axle curtain side trailers with GXO branding and unique ID numbers DL736 and DL542 on their rear doors.
Police believe both HGVs were driven by men. The first driver was described as white with a short dark beard and wearing a beanie hat, while the second was believed to have been wearing a cap. The total value of the stolen items, including the trailers, is estimated to be about £205,000.
