Pakistan has announced significant changes to its Test squad following two consecutive defeats to England. Seven players have been sent home, and head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has been replaced by his white-ball counterpart, Mike Hesson.
The decision comes after England secured victories at Headingley and Lord's, leading 2-0 in the series. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi criticised the move, calling it "the most shocking decision ever" and questioning the inclusion of T20 players for a Test match in England.
Among the players axed are Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Rizwan, and Imam-ul-Haq. The replacements drafted at short notice include only two batters, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal, with prior Test experience.
The Pakistan squad is scheduled for an audience with King Charles at Clarence House this week, though it is uncertain how many of the newly revamped group will attend.
