Teenage midfielder Erica Meg Parkinson, 18, has been called up to England's preparation squad for the Under-20 Women's World Cup, set to take place in Poland next month. North Carolina Courage player Parkinson joins a 24-player squad for a warm-weather training camp in Portugal next week.

The squad will face Portugal in a friendly on Thursday, 13 August, providing a final chance for players to impress before three are trimmed from the group. The final World Cup squad is scheduled to be announced on Thursday, 20 August.

Parkinson has previously been involved with Sarina Wiegman's senior set-up and the under-23 side. She is joined in the under-20 group by Arsenal's Sophie Harwood and Jessie Gale, as well as Eva Hendle, who recently joined Rangers on loan.

This marks England's first appearance at an Under-20 Women's World Cup since 2018. They are drawn in a group alongside Brazil, Tanzania, and Canada, with their opening match against Canada scheduled for Saturday, 5 September.
