Partick Thistle and St Mirren fought out a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the Scottish Premiership play-off final at the SMISA Stadium. The match was a keenly contested affair with both sides creating scoring opportunities, but neither could find the breakthrough. The visitors had the better of the chances in the first half, but the home side dominated possession in the second period.
The result means that the tie is finely poised ahead of the second leg at Firhill Stadium on May 25th. St Mirren will need to be clinical in front of goal if they are to progress to the Scottish Premiership next season. Partick Thistle will be confident of their chances, however, and will be looking to build on this result.
Speaking after the match, Partick Thistle manager, Ian McCall, said: 'We're delighted with the result. We knew it would be a tough game, but we showed great character and resilience to come away with a draw.'
St Mirren manager, Stephen Robinson, added: 'We're disappointed with the draw, but we can't fault the players' effort. We'll regroup and come back stronger for the second leg.'
