Paul McCartney's recent album, "The Boys of Dungeon Lane," released earlier this year, has reportedly led to an influx of tourists visiting Dungeon Lane in Liverpool. The album includes a track titled "Days We Left Behind," which is said to evoke memories of McCartney's trips to the Mersey shore with George Harrison and friends.
Many visitors are gathering at the Speke end of Dungeon Lane to photograph the sign. This section of the lane is described as uninspiring, bordered by the remains of a demolished pub, a solar farm, and an electricity substation.
The southern end of Dungeon Lane, leading to Dungeon Bay and Oglet Shore, is noted as an important area for birds and wildlife, and where McCartney, a keen birdwatcher, would have visited. While the middle of the lane was cut off by Liverpool John Lennon airport some years ago, visitors can still reach the shore via a detour.
