The $225 Pebble Time 2 smartwatch has been released by Core Devices, the company founded by original Pebble creator Eric Migicovsky. The device features a color e-paper display, physical buttons, and a silicone band, with a battery life of about 21 days on a charge.
Core Devices has sold more than 25,000 Pebble Time 2 watches across 93 countries. The watch ships with over 2,120 watch faces and apps built by Pebble developers, including more than 500 new ones from a spring developer contest.
The device runs on the open-sourced Pebble operating system, which Google made available in 2025. Migicovsky, who also co-founded messaging app Beeper, has said he hopes the reboot will let him correct past mistakes.
The Pebble Time 2 offers basic functions such as notifications, music controls, alarms, timers, and step, sleep, and heart rate tracking. It also includes a timeline feature, a classic Pebble function.
Why this matters: The Pebble Time 2 represents a revival of the indie smartwatch brand, supported by a dedicated community and open-source software, offering an alternative to mainstream smartwatches.
What this means for you: If you prefer a playful, customizable smartwatch with long battery life and physical buttons, the Pebble Time 2 is available for $225.
