Parish councillors are also planning to ask local children to design a flag for the principality. The first significant event for Piddington was the selection of the newt as its national animal, announced on Thursday morning.
The independence vote, held on Tuesday, saw 358 villagers participate, with 285 voting to secede from the UK and 26 against. This move was made in protest against plans to convert a former military base near the Oxfordshire village into housing for asylum seekers.
