The Prime Minister met with Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly in Belfast on August 27, 2026. He also held meetings with the leaders of Sinn Féin, the Democratic Unionist Party, the Alliance Party, the Ulster Unionist Party, and the Social Democratic and Labour Party.
During the meetings, the Prime Minister and the First and Deputy First Ministers agreed that their shared focus should be on delivering stability, strengthening public services, and providing relief for people facing cost-of-living pressures. The Prime Minister also stated his commitment to finding a solution for the Northern Ireland Executive Budget, with the Northern Ireland Secretary tasked with taking this work forward.
The Prime Minister reiterated his unwavering commitment to every part of the Good Friday Agreement, including the principle of consent, as the 30th anniversary approaches. He also mentioned the work to bring the Troubles Bill back to Parliament to seek answers for victims, including veterans.
