Police are appealing for information, six months on from the discovery of Beata Szauer's body in her Bedfordshire home, where a suspected stab wound was found. The 46-year-old mother-of-two, who worked as a remote hairdresser and frequented local shops in Crawley Road, was last seen alive two weeks before her body was discovered.
A CCTV sighting on 21 December shows Ms Szauer for the last time. Forensic post-mortem examination results suggest that she likely died around this time, fuelling investigators' suspicions of a violent assault. Detective Chief Inspector Sam Khanna from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit is urging anyone with information about Ms Szauer's life to come forward, as detectives struggle to piece together her final days.
The investigation has led to three men being arrested on suspicion of murder. Two men in their 50s have since been released on police bail while inquiries continue, but a third man, who was also arrested, tragically died and his death is not being treated as suspicious. Police are keen to speak with friends or associates of Ms Szauer, particularly those who may have used her hairdressing services in the weeks leading up to her discovery.
Ms Szauer's life and final days remain somewhat of a mystery for investigators, with limited details known about her routine and social interactions. Police are now focusing on retracing her steps in the hopes that someone will come forward with crucial information, allowing them to bring those responsible for her death to justice and provide answers for her family.
