Indonesian police are investigating the deaths of three Australians in Bali, with initial reports suggesting a father killed his two young children before taking his own life. The 57-year-old man and his children, aged seven and four, who were also Indonesian citizens, were discovered deceased in a bungalow in Kuta on Sunday morning.
Denpasar Police stated that a witness, Nur Khamid, was asked by the man's wife to check on the family after she was unable to reach them. The bodies were found after residents forcibly opened the bungalow door.
From an initial external examination, police suspect the two children died as a result of violence, and the father is suspected to have died by hanging. The bodies have been taken to Prof Dr IGNG Ngoerah Denpasar Central General hospital for further examination.
Denpasar police chief, Senior Commissioner Leonardo D Simatupang, confirmed that Kuta Police officers are investigating the incident. Investigators are processing the crime scene, examining CCTV footage, and questioning witnesses, including the victim's wife, to determine the cause of death. The Australian consulate is providing consular assistance to the family.
