Carmichael John Williamson, a 32-year-old police officer from Shetland, has told the High Court in Edinburgh that he did not commit the sex crimes he is accused of.
Mr Williamson, who is currently suspended, is on trial facing charges including assaulting and raping a teenage girl between 2014 and 2015, and engaging in sexual activity with her when she was under age. He is also accused of raping a woman in 2022 while she was intoxicated and unable to consent.
Giving evidence on the second day of the trial, Mr Williamson denied having penetrative sex with the girl when she was an underage teenager. He also stated it was untrue that he took part in sexual activity with an adult woman outside a community hall in 2022, and denied further sexual contact with the woman at a house later.
Under cross-examination, Mr Williamson disputed the truthfulness of the women's accounts. He told the court he has been a police constable for over 10 years, having previously served as a special constable.
Mr Williamson, of Burra, denies the series of charges alleged to have been committed at various locations in Shetland between 2014 and 2022. The trial, presided over by Judge John Morris KC, is ongoing.
