Police in Philadelphia are searching for a man in a creepy doll mask who allegedly terrorised residents by running up to them and making threats. The Philadelphia Police Department said on Tuesday that it is seeking the suspect, who reportedly threatened and chased at least six people near City Hall last week.
Surveillance video captured the man wearing a scary doll mask. Police told CBS, the BBC's US media partner, that the man asked one woman if she was "ready to die". Photos and video of the suspect have been released by police, who are asking for the public's help to identify him.
In an incident on 12 August, surveillance video showed the man chasing a woman on a morning run around 05:30 local time (10:30 BST). Police said the masked man made threatening comments while holding his hand behind his back, causing the woman to stumble and injure herself, before he fled into an underground rail station.
Philadelphia Police Department Captain Jason Smith told CBS that the man appears to be filming the incidents with a mobile phone. It is unclear if these encounters are part of a social media trend, he added. The suspect is facing charges including terroristic threats, simple assault, and other offences, according to Captain Smith.
