Pristina, Skopje, and Chișinău named among Europe's most affordable city breaks

Pristina, Skopje, and Chișinău have been identified as some of Europe's most budget-friendly cities for a short break, offering cultural experiences without large crowds.

  • Pristina, Kosovo, has an inexpensive meal cost of €5.50 (£4.73) and a beer cost of €2.50 (£2.15).
  • Skopje, North Macedonia, offers an inexpensive meal for 500 denari (£6.98) and a beer for 170 denari (£2.37).
  • Chișinău, Moldova, features an inexpensive meal for 200 lei (£8.55) and a beer for 40 lei (£1.71).

Pristina, Kosovo, Skopje, North Macedonia, and Chișinău, Moldova, have been highlighted as affordable European city break destinations. These cities are suggested as alternatives to more expensive and crowded popular locations such as Paris, London, and Stockholm.

Pristina, Kosovo's capital, is noted for its youthful atmosphere and nightlife, with an inexpensive meal costing €5.50 (£4.73) and a beer €2.50 (£2.15). Flights from London Luton to Pristina are operated by Wizz Air and easyJet, with November identified as the cheapest month to fly, from £53 return. Accommodation at Mercure Pristina City starts from £68.

Skopje, North Macedonia, offers a blend of historical cultures, with an inexpensive meal priced at 500 denari (£6.98) and a beer at 170 denari (£2.37). Wizz Air flies to Skopje from London Luton, and December is currently the cheapest month for a return flight, from £55. Nordic Hostel provides beds from £23 a night.

Chișinău, Moldova, known for its Soviet-era architecture and green spaces, has an inexpensive meal cost of 200 lei (£8.55) and a beer cost of 40 lei (£1.71).
