The sun rose over the venue of Propertymark's annual conference to kick off the inaugural One Fun Run, drawing together more than 50 property professionals from across the UK in a united effort to raise vital funds for The Propertymark Trust. The energetic gathering succeeded in surpassing its fundraising target, collecting an impressive £2,000.
The majority of this amount was generated directly through donations made on the day, while further contributions came from the sale of mental health workbooks and signed copies of 'Hacking Humanity', courtesy of David Mintz and Lara Lewington respectively. A unique aspect of the fundraising efforts was the inclusion of participants' own donations towards their finish times.
A highlight of the event was undoubtedly the sight of a participant completing the course in a dinosaur costume, adding a touch of lightheartedness to an otherwise focused display of camaraderie and determination. Upon finishing, all runners received medals, which became a symbol of achievement that resonated throughout the day.
Angharad Trueman, Group Lettings Director at Andrews Property Group and trustee for The Propertymark Trust, expressed her admiration for the event's success in bringing the property industry together. She noted the inclusive atmosphere created by having participants of all fitness levels participating and commended the substantial sum raised. With a renewed sense of optimism, Trueman hopes that next year will see an even greater turnout.
Megan Eighteen, another trustee for The Propertymark Trust, echoed Trueman's sentiments regarding the unique spirit fostered by professionals trading in their business attire for running shoes. She highlighted the importance of events like the One Fun Run in securing vital funds for the charity and creating lasting memories within the industry. As an encapsulation of the event's community-driven ethos, Eighteen pointed to the visible pride displayed by participants wearing their medals and the positive reactions to the dinosaur runner.
The Propertymark Trust plays a crucial role in supporting individuals working in the property sector during difficult times, offering assistance with issues such as financial hardship, mental health challenges, and career development. Events like the One Fun Run are pivotal in enabling the Trust to continue its vital work, providing a safety net for those facing adversity within the industry.
