PwC UK Chief Marco Amitrano has been appointed to a pivotal expanded global position within the professional services giant, with significant implications for the company's operations and client base. From July 1st, Mr Amitrano will oversee Europe-wide responsibilities, working alongside partners from PwC's UK and US businesses, while retaining his current leadership roles.
The restructuring is designed to consolidate back-office functions and accelerate the adoption of innovative services, such as AI-driven consulting, across PwC's international client base. This focus on centralisation mirrors a broader trend within the professional services sector, where firms are adapting to the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on their offerings. Notably, PwC's UK and US member firms are leading much of this investment in new technologies, including AI, which are subsequently rolled out across the organisation.
Mr Amitrano's elevation to this expanded global role marks a significant milestone for the Big Four firm, underscoring the growing importance of integrated international operations. With 34 years of service at PwC, he joined straight from university in 1992 and became a partner in 2005. His appointment signals a continued focus on centralising decision-making and streamlining global functions.
This latest organisational shift follows an earlier initiative in April, where PwC outlined plans to standardise consultancy services across its global business. The firm's proactive response to the evolving landscape of professional services reflects a broader industry trend. Notably, while PwC has implemented cost-cutting measures, including reductions in partner roles, profits have increased modestly by 0.4 per cent to £6.35 billion in revenue in September 2023, as these redundancies begin to yield results.
The appointment of a UK-based executive to a global role highlights the country's continued influence within the international professional services arena. This strategic alignment aims to ensure consistent service delivery and innovation across diverse markets, leveraging PwC's strongest regional hubs to drive its global agenda.
