Rangers are closing in on a loan deal for Serie A defender Ben Godfrey, according to reports. The 28-year-old England international is set to join the Glasgow club from Atalanta, with an option to buy. Godfrey has reportedly passed a medical and is expected to complete the move in the coming days.
This development comes as Rangers face competition for other targets. MLS clubs are leading the chase for Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin, who is out of contract at Tynecastle but has been made an offer to stay. Devlin has reportedly been approached by several MLS clubs, including Real Salt Lake, Chicago Fire, and Seattle Sounders.
Rangers are also expected to face competition for Borussia Dortmund winger Cole Campbell, who is valued at £6m. The 20-year-old has been linked with Celtic, but newly-promoted Bundesliga side Elversberg are also interested in signing the young winger.
The developments come as Rangers continue to be active in the transfer market. The club has also been linked with Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur and Manchester United shot-stopper Radek Vitek.
