Spencer Pratt, a reality TV star and former cast member of MTV's The Hills, has made headlines with his claim that Hollywood A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx have privately supported his campaign to become the mayor of Los Angeles.
Speaking to a US publication, Pratt stated that he had received backing from the two celebrities, saying: 'Usually I don’t name-drop, but I had two of my favourite people ever support me.'
While Pratt has not provided any further details about the nature of the support he claims to have received from DiCaprio and Foxx, the claims have sparked speculation about the level of support he has among high-profile celebrities.
Pratt's campaign for mayor is seen as a long shot, but the attention he has received from the media and the public could potentially boost his profile and increase his chances of success.
In a statement, Pratt's campaign team said that the reality star was 'grateful' for the support he had received from DiCaprio and Foxx, but declined to provide any further comment.
The mayoral election in Los Angeles is scheduled to take place in November, and Pratt will face stiff competition from incumbent mayor Eric Garcetti.
