Reform UK has received £72m in donations from two billionaires over a single weekend. On Friday, businessman Ben Delo, 42, donated £36m to the party. This latest contribution brings Delo's total donations to Reform UK this year to £44m.
Less than 24 hours later, 63-year-old billionaire Christopher Harborne also donated £36m to Reform UK. The Guardian's senior political correspondent, Peter Walker, stated that this combined amount is potentially "a game changing amount," noting it is more than the total spent by the big four or five parties in the 2024 general election.
Both donors are described as Oxbridge-educated businessmen who made their wealth in cryptocurrency and have largely resided abroad. They have stated their donations are intended to 'level the playing field' in UK politics.
