Reform UK has received two £36m donations from crypto billionaires Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne. Both individuals have lived abroad, with Mr Delo previously residing in Hong Kong and Mr Harborne partly based in Thailand.
The donations have led to calls for the House of Lords to amend the representation of the people bill, currently making its way through parliament. The proposed amendments would impose limits on political donations and party spending.
It is currently unclear whether Mr Delo or Mr Harborne meet the criteria of the Rycroft review, which set a maximum annual donation of £100,000 for individuals not present in the UK for at least a year.
