Jason O’Connell, a Reform UK politician and Senedd member for Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr, reportedly appeared to use smart glasses as a teleprompter during a Senedd debate on 30 September. Periodic flashing was observed in his spectacles as he spoke for five minutes without referring to notes.

Following the incident, other Welsh assembly members stated that the issue of smart glasses, popularised by Meta, requires prompt attention and the development of explicit guidance regarding their use. There is no suggestion that O’Connell's glasses were recording.
