Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, has been identified as Europe's leading city for sleep, achieving a sleep score of 99.2 out of 100 in a new study by luggage store Eminent. The assessment considered factors including noise, light, and air pollution, alongside overnight temperatures.
The study highlighted Reykjavik's average summer minimum temperature of 8.9°C as ideal for sleep, noting its low noise and light pollution, and clean air. Following Reykjavik, Stockholm in Sweden ranked second with a sleep score of 96.11, experiencing zero tropical nights during summer and low light and sound pollution.
Ireland's Cork secured the third position, with Kaunas in Lithuania placing fourth and Gothenburg, another Swedish city, coming in fifth. The study was released as sleep deprivation reportedly affects almost one in three adults in Europe.
